Even though the Romanian taxi drivers have tried to ban this system, using Uber in Bucharest still works. Or at least at the moment I am writing this article.

Using Uber in Bucharest is one of the easiest and safest way to go from A to B. The app does not require you talking to the driver as he already knows the destination. You can safely use your credit card, without changing the currency.

The Uber drivers are really ok in Bucharest. They smell good, they have clean cars and they are very polite. You can also call them to the Otopeni Airport. The Uber transportation in the capital of Romania is available on your Uber app and the prices are close to the taxi ones. However, a big plus for Uber is that there is no negotiation regarding the fair and the drivers are trustworthy.

Tourist in Romania recommends Uber for the tourists visiting Bucharest.

Using Uber in Bucharest is easy

If you own a smartphone, you can choose your ride and set your location. On your Uber app, you’ll see your driver’s picture and all the vehicle details. During the waiting time, you can track the arrival of the driver on the smartphone’s map.

No need for you to make any calls, no need to walk on foot because the taxi driver can’t be bothered. With 24/7 availability, you can request a ride any time of day, any day of the year.

At the end of the drive, you can rate your driver and provide anonymous feedback about your trip. This way, the Uber service can be constantly improved by getting rid of the drivers who are not meeting the standards.

For foreigners, using Uber in Bucharest is, by far, the best choice. This is not a paid advert, it is the opinion of all the Tourist in Romania team.

  1. Hey guys, is Uber still available in Bucharest now (March 2017)? I read some concerning stuff about it being banned completely or close to it due to some local gov’t regulations and I was wondering. My partner and I are flying in for our honeymoon and we’d rather avoid local taxi drivers if possible, we’ve heard nothing but bad stories. Thanks!
